Meet the FHOCers: Story | Video | Mount Holyoke Awards Day Story

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Feb. 8, 2010) - Mount Holyoke College honored the 18 women who made up the Field Hockey Organizing Committee (FHOC) at its annual Celebration of Student Achievement this afternoon. During the campus wide event, students and recent graduates were recognized for their leadership as demonstrated through academic excellence, community service and outstanding accomplishment.

The FHOCers earned the Student Leadership and Service Award after volunteering to participate in the planning and execution of the NCAA Division III Field Hockey National Championship last fall. Their award is given to those students whose leadership and service have enriched the life of the College and the wider community.

Prior to the championship weekend, the group met regularly, starting in the spring. Included in the group were varsity athletes and students from the general student body. Each of the FHOCers oversaw their own project team. They were  expected to assemble and lead their respective groups. Because of their hark work, the event was a great success. Over 1,600 fans attended over the two days.
