LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Junior Cassidy Robinson's goal at the 30:15 mark proved to be the game-winner as the Mount Holyoke College soccer team blanked Lyndon State College by a 4-0 margin on Monday afternoon. The Lyons are now 2-0 on the young season, while the Hornets slip to 0-1.
Robinson took a cross from Ashleigh Hartsock and deposited a shot into the lower left corner of the net behind Hornet goalkeeper Marley Harmon. Nine minutes later, sophomore Ali Rossi upped the Lyons lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal that found its way into the right side of the net.
Leading 2-0 at intermission, Mount Holyoke ended any hopes of a Lyndon comeback by scoring two goals in a span of two minutes. Hartsock made it 3-0 off an assist from sophomore Machaela Wiggin at 65:30 and junior captain Hannah Yee closed out the scoring at 67:30 with a goal off a pass from Hartsock.
Lyons' goalie Alyssa Tabrisky stopped five shots to earn the shutout and pick up her first collegiate victory, while Harmon made a total of nine saves in the loss. Mount Holyoke held a 25-10 edge in shots in the contest.
The Lyons return to action on Saturday when they open their home schedule against Colby-Sawyer College on the MHC Soccer Field. Game time is set for 2pm.
