  • Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Academic Honors

    The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has announced the Division III Academic Squads and Mount Holyoke College was named one of the 125 institutions to earn the distinction for the 2014 season. To be recognized, teams must have a collective grade point average of 3.0 or greater.

    Under the leadership of seventh-year head coach Miriam Esber, the Mount Holyoke lacrosse team battled its way back into the NEWMAC Tournament for the second straight season. The Lyons finished with an 8-8 overall record, going 3-4 in NEWMAC play.
  • Bell & Kilburn Named ECAC First Team All-Stars

    The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2014 Division III All-Stars in women’s lacrosse and two Mount Holyoke College student-athletes have been recognized. Sophomore Julia Bell and junior Kirsten Kilburn were both First Team selections for the Lyons.
  • Two Garner All-Region Lacrosse Honors

    The IWLCA has announced its All-Region teams and two Mount Holyoke College student-athletes have been recognized. Sophomore Julia Bell and junior Kirsten Kilburn were both named to the All-Berkshire Region Second Team. This marks the second straight honor for both players, who were Second Team honorees in 2013.

    The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced its All-Conference selections in women’s lacrosse and three Mount Holyoke College student-athletes were recognized. Julia Bell and Kirsten Kilburn were named to the First Team, while Catherine Ryan was selected for Second Team honors.
  • Lacrosse Suffers 18-17 Loss to MIT in NEWMAC Quarterfinals

    Sophomore midfielder Isabella DiDio netted the game-winning goal with 1:16 to play, lifting the fourth-seeded Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) lacrosse team to an 18-17 come-from-behind victory over fifth-seeded Mount Holyoke College in the Quarterfinal game of the NEWMAC Tournament. The Engineers improve to 12-5, while the Lyons slip to 8-8.
  • Bell Named Top NEWMAC Offensive Performer

    The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced its weekly awards and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Julia Bell has been recognized. The sophomore attacker was named the Offensive Performer of the Week after posting 15 goals over two games last week.

    Despite a combined 14 goals from junior captain Kirsten Kilburn and sophomore Julia Bell, the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team could not complete a comeback, falling 22-19 to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

    For the second time this season, sophomore Julia Bell notched a game-high nine goals, this time leading the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team to an 18-9 victory over Smith College in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Lyons improve to 8-6 and 3-3 in conference play, while the Pioneers move to 2-13 and 0-6 in the NEWMAC.
  • Lacrosse Shoulders NEWMAC Loss at Springfield

    An eight-goal day for senior midfielder Emily Fowler (Branford, Conn.) paced the Springfield College women’s lacrosse team to a 21-15 victory over Mount Holyoke College on Saturday afternoon at Stagg Field. With the victory, the Pride improve to 7-6 on the year, and 4-1 in the NEWMAC. With the loss, the Lyons fall to 7-6 overall, and 2-3 in conference play.

    Junior captain Kirsten Kilburn fired in the game-winning shot with 24 seconds remaining in the fourth overtime to lift the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team to a 13-12 Senior Night victory over Emerson College in NEWMAC action on Tuesday evening. With the victory, the Lyons improve to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while the Lions are now 7-5 and 1-3 in the NEWMAC.

    The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its weekly award winners in women’s lacrosse and Mount Holyoke College student-athletes Kirsten Kilburn and Brianne Phelan were both recognized. Kilburn garnered Offensive Player of the Week, while Phelan was named the Defensive Performer of the Week.

The game marks the first-ever meeting between MHC and Emerson, who joined the NEWMAC this season as the 11th member of the conference. Mount Holyoke looks to continue its two-game winning streak following victories over Western Connecticut State and conference-foe Wellesley last week.

The win improves Mount Holyoke to 6-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while the Blue dips to 4-7 and 1-2 in the NEWMAC.
  • Lacrosse Rallies for 21-14 Win Over Western Connecticut State

    Mount Holyoke College took advantage of a nine-goal flurry in the second half to hold off Western Connecticut State University in a 21-14 non-conference win on Thursday evening. The game, which saw three players post five goals apiece, put the Lyons at a 5-5 overall record while the Colonials slip to 2-5 overall.

    Nine different players scored, led by junior midfielder Rachel Secrist’s game-best five, to lead Babson College to a 17-8 victory over Mount Holyoke College in NEWMAC lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon. The Beavers improve to 3-6 overall and remain perfect in conference play with a 2-0 mark. MHC moves to 4-5 on the season and 0-2 in the NEWMAC.

The Lyons move to 4-4 on the season, while the Owls slip to 2-4 overall.

    Powered by a five goal effort from both Leila Mills and Brooke Sabol, the Wheaton College lacrosse team defeated Mount Holyoke College, 15-8 in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener for both teams. With the victory, Wheaton moves to 4-4, while MHC slips to 3-4.

    The Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team evened its overall record up on Thursday morning, cruising to a 17-6 victory over UMass-Dartmouth in Spring Fling action at Lake Lytal Park. With the victory, the Lyons move to 3-3 overall, while the Corsairs are now 1-4 on the young season.

    Western New England University put up 12 goals in the opening half and held off a late rally by Mount Holyoke College for a 16-14 non-conference win on Tuesday evening at the MHC Turf Field. With the victory, the Golden Bears remain perfect at 5-0, while the homestanding Lyons slip to 1-3 on the young season.

    Mount Holyoke College sophomore Julia Bell exploded for a career-high nine goals and dished out four assists leading the Lyons past the New England College Pilgrims 21-7 in women’s lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. The win is the first of the season for the Lyons who improve to 1-2 overall, while the Pilgrims are now 0-1 overall.

Junior captain Kirsten Kilburn paced the offensive effort for the Lyons, tallying a game-best four goals.
