Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Academic Honors

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has announced the Division III Academic Squads and Mount Holyoke College was named one of the 125 institutions to earn the distinction for the 2014 season. To be recognized, teams must have a collective grade point average of 3.0 or greater.

Individually, the Lyons saw attacker Liz Randolph (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) named to the 2014 Academic Honor Roll. The 2014 NEWMAC Academic All-Conference selection was among 364 student-athletes from 126 institutions chosen for the Honor Roll.

Each individual honoree is nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically. Randolph finished the 2014 campaign with 23 goals and 15 assists for 38 points over 12 games played. She was third on the team in assists and fourth in both goals and points.

Under the direction of head coach Miriam Esber, the Lyons returned to the conference playoffs in 2014, falling in the quarterfinals to MIT, 18-17. On the season, MHC posted victories over New England College, Clarkson, UMass-Dartmouth, Westfield State, Western Connecticut State and NEWMAC foes Wellesley, Emerson and Smith. The Lyons also had the top two goal and point scorers in the conference.

As a team, Mount Holyoke saw nine of Mount Holyoke's 18 student-athletes achieved a 3.00 GPA or better last season, while six had a grade point average of 3.3 or better.
