Golf Wraps Up 2011-12 Campaign at Williams Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (Apr. 29, 2012) – Led by first year Madi Mendiola, the Mount Holyoke College golf team closed out its 2011-12 campaign with a seventh place finish at the Williams College Spring Invitational this weekend. A total of eight teams competed in the two-day tournament, which took place at Taconic Golf Club (par 71 – 5,827).

Mendiola turned in an eighth place score of 166 (82, 84) to set the tone for the Lyons. Classmate Rebecca Berger and junior Felicitas Gerlach also enjoyed solid weekends. Both players finished in a tie for 29th place with matching scores of 187.

Host Williams breezed to the team title with a score of 652. The Ephs were followed by Middlebury College (662) and Amherst College (679). Mount Holyoke finished with a team score of 740.

Middlebury's Flora Weeks secured medalist honors with a two-day tally of 159 (78, 81). She was followed by Georgiana Salant (161 – 78. 83) of Williams.
