Golf Competes in Jack Leaman Championship

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Apr. 22, 2012) – The Mount Holyoke College golf team took part in the annual Jack Leaman Championship this weekend. A total of 12 teams competed in the two-day tournament, which began on Saturday at Amherst Golf Club and concluded today at the Orchards Golf Club. The Lyons recorded a team score of 759 to secure 10th place overall.

First year Madi Mendiola collected 12th place with a score of 163 (81-82) to set the tone for Mount Holyoke. The Lyons also received a boost from first year Hannah Falvey, who fired a 184 (96-98) to take 44th place. Classmate Rebecca Berger turned in a 57th place performance with her score of 194 (92-102).

Amherst College turned in a score of 633 to take the team title. The Lord Jeffs narrowly edged out Williams College (635). Meanwhile, Middlebury College (657), Ithaca College (670) and New York University (697) rounded out the top five.

Laura Monty of Amherst claimed medalist honors with a score of 154 (75-79). She finished just one stroke in front of teammate Elizabeth Monty and Victoria Student of Williams, who each carded scores of 155.

Mount Holyoke will close out its 2011-12 campaign at the Williams College Spring Invitational next weekend.
