With longtime head coach Jeanne Friedman, leading the way, the Mount Holyoke crew team posted solid results in 2011-12. Leading the way were senior Carol Still and sophomore Hattie Gemerchak, who were each named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Team. Prior to the season, the program commemorated its 35th Anniversary with a two-day reunion in mid-September.
Mount Holyoke crew team member Clare Enright has been named to the ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships All-Conference Team. The junior helped her team to an 15th place finish earlier this month.
The NEWMAC recently announced its 2012 Spring Academic All-Conference Teams. Nineteen Mount Holyoke student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the sports of track and field, lacrosse an crew.
Mount Holyoke closed out its 2011-12 season at the ECAC National Invitational Collegiate Regatta today on Lake Quinsigamond. The Lyons finished in 15th place overall with a total of 21 points.
Mount Holyoke competed in the New England Rowing Championships today at Lake Quinsigamond. The Lyons finished in 18th place overall with 22.7 points. Their novice four boat crossed the line first in the Petite Finals of its division.
Mount Holyoke took part in the NEWMAC Championship this morning on Lake Quinsigamond. The Lyons finished fifth in the varsity eight race with a time of 8:02.01. Wellesley claimed top honors at the event for the second year in a row and third time overall.
Mount Holyoke closed out its weekend with another solid day of racing on Lake Quinsigamond today. A total of four boats took to the water for the Lyons, who were joined by by Simmons, Union, Franklin and Marshall, Clark and UMass Lowell at the competition.

Mount Holyoke kicked off its spring slate against Tufts, Tulane and Wentworth this morning on the Malden River. Over the course of the day, the Lyons competed in seven races. Their first novice eight boat set the tone with their overwhelming victory over Wentworth.
Award-winning filmmaker Mary Mazzio '83 recently sat down with Forbes Magazine to talk about finding her voice and confidence while attending Mount Holyoke. After an outstanding career as a rower for the Lyons, Mazzio went on to represent the United States at the 1992 Olympics.

Mount Holyoke grabbed third place today at the Seven Sisters Championship Regatta. This season’s event was hosted by Smith on the Connecticut River. Seniors Hannah Blackmer and Megan Roark represented the Lyons on the All-Regatta Team along with first year Pavlina Lejskova.
Mount Holyoke participated in the 47th annual Head of the Charles Regatta today in Boson, Mass. The competition took place on the historic Charles River and featured 56 events over the course of the weekend. For the second year in a row, the Lyons grabbed 13th place in the Collegiate Eights Division.
Mount Holyoke kicked off its 2011-12 season at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta today in Worcester, Mass. A total of five boats represented the Lyons at the competition, which took place on Lake Quinsigamond. Mount Holyoke’s first varsity boat grabbed fifth place with a time of 14:58.737.

Over 100 crewton alumnae and other friends of the program made their way back to South Hadley to celebrate the team’s rich history with special events both on campus and at the new Community Boathouse.
The Mount Holyoke crew team will take part in four events this fall. After opening up at the Head of the Riverfront Regatta on Sunday, October 2, the Lyons will compete in the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta, the Head of the Charles Regatta and the Seven Sisters Championship Regatta.
