President Lynn Pasquerella joined crew head coach Jeanne Friedman and Director of Athletics Laurie Priest on Sunday to help christen Mount Holyoke's newest boat. The Vespoli Advantage boat is designed to be more stable in the water and provide novice rowers with a more solid platform to learn on. The crew team named the boat "The Lynn Pasquerella '80" in honor of the Pasquerella's first year as President.
State officials, community leaders, local residents and members of the College community joined together to officially unveil the Mount Holyoke Community Boathouse on April 25, 2010.
The Mount Holyoke Community Boathouse has become the "boat home" of the College's crew program. It will also support rowing programs for people of all ages. Check out the video from the facility's grand opening!
The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association recently announced its Scholar Athletes for the 2010 season. Hannah Blackmer, Emily Carol, Sarah Friedman, Amanda McGrosky, Cleo Schneider, Jessica Suhowatsky and Rebekah Wieland were honored for achievements both on the water and in the classroom.
Mount Holyoke College junior Cleo Schneider was recently selected to the 2010 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division III Pocock All-America Second Team. She was the fifth Lyon in program history to receive All-America recognition.
Mount Holyoke College crew team member Cleo Schneider has been named to the ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships All-Conference Team after helping her team to a sixth place finish over the weekend. Schneider was a member of the Lyons first varsity eight boat that finished in 10th place overall and eighth among NCAA Division III squads.
The Eastern College Athletic Conference National Invitational Rowing Championships (ECAC/NIRC) Board of Stewards recently announced their 2010 All-Academic Team. Nine members of the Mount Holyoke College womens crew team were honored.
The Mount Holyoke College Department of Athletics hosted its annual awards celebration this evening in Chapin Auditorium. Individuals from all 14 varsity teams were honored. Squash Head Coach Allen Fitzsimmons served as the events emcee. Soccer team member Lauren Orr earned the prestigious Alumnae Association Scholar-Athlete Award.
The NEWMAC recently announced its 2010 Spring Academic All-Conference Teams. Eighteen Mount Holyoke College student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the sports of lacrosse, crew and track and field.
Prior to the annual athletics awards celebration this evening, 17 Mount Holyoke seniors representing 11 teams were honored as part of the College's second annual Scholar Athlete Reception. The recognition event highlighted those student-athletes who have excelled both on the field and in the classroom.

Mount Holyoke's Community Boathouse will officially be unveiled on Sunday, April 25 from noon to 1:30 p.m. The opening ceremony will feature tours, refreshments and speeches.
