Crew Team's First Varsity Eight Boat Snags "Lyon of the Week" Honors
The crew team's first varsity eight boat has earned the "Lyon of the Week" award for the week of October 5-11 after taking home top honors in its race at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta on Saturday. Led by senior coxswain Mya Steadman, the team crossed the line in just 16:49.914. It finished five seconds in front of Bates College and also defeated the College of the Holy Cross, Wellesley College, Connecticut College, Colby College, WPI, Tufts University and Roger Williams University. Steadman was joined in the boat by Clare Enight, Cleo Schneider, Jessica Suhowatsky, Ellen Bledsoe, Hannah Blackmer, Elizabeth Brown, Robyn Kranzler and Kirstie Young. Mount Holyoke is slated to wrap up its 2009-10 fall schedule at the Seven Sisters Championship on Saturday, October 24. The Lyons will be looking to capture their third consecutive title at the event, which will take place on the Charles River in Boston, Mass.
