Cross Country Finishes 19th at NCAA New England Regional

NEW LONDON, Conn. - It was an outstanding afternoon of action for the Mount Holyoke College cross country team, who finished 19th of 57 competing teams at the NCAA New England Regional Championship, hosted by Connecticut College at Harkness Park. The Lyons compiled 553 points, finishing just one point out of 18th.

MHC was led by senior Elizabeth DeLeon (Boise, Idaho/Timberline), who placed 77th overall out of 390 runners. She crossed the line in a time of 23:17.6. Sophomore Mia Barnes (Thornville, Ohio/Monteverde Friends School) finished 97th overall with a time of 23:37.9, while junior Brianna Weir (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) was 119th on the day with a mark of 23:563.

Sophomore Hannah Gershone (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) was close behind, crossing the line in the 120th position with a time of 23:56.6, while classmate Sunny Shan (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista) was 140th overall with a mark of 24:15.1.

Rookie Corrin Moss (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus Alternative) was 188th with a time of 24:57.0, while sophomore Kelly Stevens (Southboro, Mass./Worcester Academy) rounded out the team scoring in 205th with a time of 25:17.0.

Williams College won this year's event with a score of 44 points. Tufts finished second overall (107), followed by Middlebury (108), MIT (114) and Wellesley (170).

Mount Holyoke concludes its regular schedule with today's meet, but waits for NCAA Championship selections which will be announced early this coming week.
