Cross Country Wins Smith Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Powered by five runners in the top-14, the Mount Holyoke College cross country team claimed victory at the 2015 Smith Invitational.

Senior Elizabeth DeLeon was the Lyons top finisher, posting third overall with a time of 19:59.19. Sophomore Sunny Shan was close behind in fourth, crossing the line with a mark of 20:10.90.

Sophomore Hannah Gershone rounded out the top-10 finishes for the Lyons, crossing the line with a time of 20:46.86. Classmate Mia Barnes was 13th overall with a time of 21:17.82. Junior Brianna Weir also finished top-14 on the afternoon, crossing the line in a time of 21:18.71.

Lyons' sophomore Kelly Stevens finished 21st overall with a mark of 21:41.86, while classmate Gargi Mishra was 63rd with a time of 24:09.99. Also racing for the Lyons on Saturday were sophomores Julia Criscione, who was 71st (25:01.79), Caroline Black, who was 72nd (25:08.81) and first year Nora Taupier, who placed 79th (26:03.64).

Mount Holyoke returns to action on September 26th, when it competes at the 2015 Purple Valley Invitational.
