Led by head coach Tina Lee in her 30th season, the Lyons saw action in 10 meets in 2016-17. It was the Smith Winter Classic that kicked things off in December, led by a number of solid finishes. Sophomore Donari Yahzid (Atlanta, Ga./Fountain Valley School of Colorado) paced the way, finishing third in the long jump with a distance of 5.15 meters, which was a New England Division III qualifying mark.

Mount Holyoke returned to Northampton once again at the end of January, competing at the Smith Pioneer Invitational. Yahzid once again led the way, placing third in the long jump with a distance of 4.90. Classmate Corrin Moss (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus Alternative) was sixth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 20:31.65, while first year Charleen Theroux (Coventry, R.I./Coventry) also turned in a sixth place performance in the 200-meter dash with a 28.01 time.

The Lyons were back in action the following weekend at Springfield's Massasoit Invitational. Once again both Yahzid and Theroux finished strong, placing first (5.00m) and second (4.97m), respectively in the long jump. Next up, the squad headed South for the Wesleyan Invite at the start of February. MHC was led by sophomore Julia Hecking (Greenville, Pa./Greenville), who placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 10.67 meters.

Mount Holyoke then made its way to Cambridge over the next two weeks, as MIT hosted its own invitational, followed by the New England Division III Championships. At the invitational, first year Minerva Veeser-Bobea (Arlington, Mass.Arlington) powered her way to fifth in the 200m (27.91) and also crossed the line eighth in the 60m dash (8.45). At New England's – which marked the final meet of the indoor campaign – the Lyons saw Yahzid place 16th in the long jump (4.97m).

The outdoor season started off on a rough note as bad weather forced the cancellation of the Coast Guard Spring Invite, but the Lyons returned to action the following weekend at Smith's Pioneer Spring Invitational. First year Alicia Moroyoqui (Groton, Conn./Robert E. Fitch) highlighted the day, finishing fifth overall in the mile run (5:18.30).

MHC then took to its own home track, hosting the Spring Fling Invitational. Overall, the team finished third, powered by first-place finishes from junior Mia Barnes (Thornville, Ohio/Monteverde Friends School) in the 10,000-meter run (41:30.89) and Veeser-Bobea in the 200m dash (28.10).

The second-to-last meet of the season saw the Lyons head to familiar territory at the Aloha Relays in Brunswick, Maine. First year Emma Raney (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) was the Lyons top finisher at the meet, which was hosted by Bowdoin, finishing third in the 3,000m steeplechase (13:03.44).

Mount Holyoke then concluded its season at the NEWMAC Championships, hosted by MIT. Moroyoqui turned in the top finish for the Lyons, finishing eighth overall (5:12.34), while Moss was ninth (5:13.74) in the same event.

Academically, the Lyons saw seven student-athletes garner NEWMAC Academic All-Conference recognition including Barnes, senior Aliyah Sahqani, juniors Julia Criscione, Hannah Gershone and Kelly Stevens, Hecking and Moss.
