With longtime head coach Tina Lee at the helm, the Mount Holyoke indoor track and field team competed in seven events during the 2011-12 season. With her toss of 40.34 meters, the senior earned All-ECAC honors and put Mount Holyoke in 42nd place overall with four points.
The NEWMAC recently announced its 2012 Spring Academic All-Conference Teams. Nineteen Mount Holyoke student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the sports of track and field, lacrosse an crew.
Miriam Larson-Koester turned in yet another impressive performance in the discus this afternoon at the New England Championships. The senior earned All-New England honors with her sixth place toss of 42.06 meters. In the process, she shattered her own school record.

In addition to taking home first place in the discus (41.62 meters), she also turned in a fifth place performance in the shot put (10.99 meters).
First year Meara Algama has earned the Lyon of the Week award for the week of April 9-15 after an impressive performance at the Eastern Connecticut State Invitational on Friday. The rookie took home first place in the javelin with a toss of 30.37 meters.
Mount Holyoke took part in the fifth annual Eastern Connecticut Invitational this afternoon along with Trinity and Mahattanville. First year Meara Algama set the tone for the Lyons with her first place toss of 30.37 meters in the javelin. Meanwhile, sophomore Kathleen O’Connor won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:16.99.

Edebeli got the Lyons on the board with her fourth place toss of 10.91 meters in the shot put. The captain also grabbed eighth place in the 200-meter dash with her time of 28.18.

The Mount Holyoke indoor track and field team is slated to kick off its 2011-12 season at the Smith Winter Classic tomorrow. Longtime head coach Tina Lee will once again look to veterans Jacinta Edebeli, Miriam Larson-Koester and Maddie Ballon to lead the way for the Lyons, who are scheduled for nine meets this winter.
