  • Lacrosse Garners IWLCA Academic Honors

    The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association has announced the Division III Academic Squads and Mount Holyoke College was named one of the 86 institutions to earn the distinction for the 2013 season. Individually, senior defender Laura Chapman was named to the organization's Academic Honor Roll.
  • 2012-13 Lacrosse Year in Review

    Under the direction of sixth-year head coach Miriam Esber, the Mount Holyoke lacrosse team had a banner year in 2013. Posting an overall record of 13-4, the Lyons advanced to the NEWMAC Championship semifinals and then went on to claim the 2013 ECAC New England Championship crown.
  • Lacrosse Wins ECAC New England Championship over WNE, 17-16; Malenfant Named MOP

    Senior Liz Malenfant stopped an astonishing 22 shots to earn Most Outstanding Player honors and lead the second-seeded Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team to a 17-16 victory over top-seeded Western New England University in the ECAC New England Championship title game. The Lyons finish with a record of 13-4, tying the record for wins in a season, while the Golden Bears conclude their year with a 15-6 overall mark.
  • Lacrosse Advances to ECAC New England Title Game; Down Southern Maine, 16-6

    Backstopped by 11 saves from senior goalie Liz Malenfant and a game-high five goals from sophomore midfielder Kirsten Kilburn, the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team posted a 16-6 win over the University of Southern Maine in the ECAC New England Championship Semifinals. The Lyons are now 12-4 and will play in Sunday's title game at 1pm.

For the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team, two members in particular have used a life-long connection to both each other and their sports to lift the Lyons to one of the best seasons in program history.
  • Three Garner IWLCA All-Region Recognition

    The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has announced its All-Region teams and Mount Holyoke College student-athletes Julia Bell, Molly Macdonald and Liz Malenfant were recognized. All three were named to the Berkshire Region Second Team after helping the Lyons to one of their best seasons in program history.
  • Lacrosse Selected to ECAC New England Championship

    The 2013 ECAC New England Championship field has been announced and the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team has earned the second-seed in the five-team tournament, which will be hosted by Western New England University - the top overall seed. The Lyons will face the third-seeded University of Southern Maine on Saturday at 1pm.
  • Lacrosse Puts Five on All-Conference Teams; Bell Named Rookie of the Year; Esber the Coach of the Year

    The NEWMAC has announced its All-Conference Teams in women’s lacrosse and five Mount Holyoke College student-athletes were recognized, including three on the first team. Additionally, first year Julia Bell was named the Rookie of the Year while Lyons head coach Miriam Esber was the conference’s Coach of the Year honoree.
  • Lacrosse Falls to Springfield in NEWMAC Semifinals

    Despite a four-goal performance from senior attack Molly Macdonald, the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team could not overcome a strong first-half by Springfield College, falling to the Pride by a 14-9 margin in the semifinals of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Confernence Tournament. The second-seeded Lyons are now 11-4, while the third-seeded Pride move to 10-7 overall.
  • Malenfant Tabbed for Regional & Conference Honors

    The ECAC and the NEWMAC have announced their weekly awards in lacrosse and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Liz Malenfant was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week by both organizations. It marks the third weekly league honor of the season for the senior netminder and her first of the year by the ECAC.

    Behind goals from five different players and a 16 save effort from senior Liz Malenfant, the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team posted a 9-7 victory over Babson College in NEWMAC action on Saturday. With the win, the Lyons clinch the second-seed in the conference playoffs, moving to 11-3 overall and 4-2 in NEWMAC play.

    A six-goal effort from first year Julia Bell and the 100th career goal for senior Molly Macdonald highlighted the afternoon as the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team defeated longtime-rival, Smith College, 17-6 in NEWMAC action on Tuesday afternoon. The Lyons improve to 10-3 and move into a three-way tie for second-place in the conference standings. The Pioneers are now 3-11 and 0-5 in league play.

    First year attack Brooke Sabol scored with 6:45 remaining in the contest and the tally proved to be the game-winner as Wheaton College held on late for a 10-9 victory over Mount Holyoke College in NEWMAC lacrosse action on Saturday. With the win, the Wheaton Lyons improve to 7-5 and remain perfect atop the conference standings with a 5-0 mark. The MHC Lyons slip to 9-3 overall and 2-2 in NEWMAC play.
  • Macdonald Leads Lacrosse Past Bridgewater State, 16-10

    Senior attack Molly Macdonald scored a game-best seven goals, including four in the second half, to lead the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team to a 16-10 victory over Bridgewater State University on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Lyons move to 9-2 on the season, while the Bears shoulder their first loss of the year, slipping to 10-1 overall.
  • Malenfant Earns Weekly NEWMAC Honors

    NEWMAC has announced its weekly awards in lacrosse and for the second time this season Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Liz Malenfant was selected. The senior netminder was named the Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Lyons go 2-0 last week with 16 total saves and four ground ball pickups.

    Led by a game-best five goals from sophomore Kirsten Kilburn, the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team defeated MIT by a 17-6 margin in NEWMAC action on Saturday. With the victory, the Lyons move to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while the Engineers slip to 4-7 and 1-2 in the NEWMAC.
  • Lacrosse Grabs 8-7 Road Victory at Western Connecticut State

    Mount Holyoke got three goals each from senior Molly Macdonald and first year Julia Bell enroute to an 8-7 non-conference victory over Western Connecticut State University of Thursday evening at the Westside Athletic Complex. With the victory, the Lyons move to 7-2 overall, while Western is now 4-4 on the year.
  • Lacrosse Shoulders First NEWMAC Loss at Wellesley, 17-14

    Led by a strong effort from its senior class, the Wellesley College lacrosse team came out on top of a high-scoring shootout, topping NEWMAC-foe Mount Holyoke, 17-14, on Saturday afternoon in Wellesley. The win improves Wellesley to 5-4 on the season, 1-1 in NEWMAC play, while Mount Holyoke moves to 6-2 overall, 1-1 in the NEWMAC.

    The NEWMAC has announced its weekly awards in lacrosse and for the second time this season a pair of Mount Holyoke College student-athletes have swept the honors. Molly Macdonald was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the second time, while Liz Malenfant was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week. Both helped the Lyons go 3-0 last week to improve to 6-1 on the year.

    Junior midfielder Brianne Phelan’s goal with 3:44 remaining proved to be the difference as Mount Holyoke College edged Springfield College, 11-10 in the NEWMAC opener for both teams. With the win, the Lyons move to 6-1 on the season, while the Pride – who are the defending NEWMAC Tournament champions – move to 5-3 overall.

    Senior attack Molly Macdonald netted four second half goals to lead the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team to a 16-8 victory over the University of Southern Maine at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida on Friday. With the victory, the Lyons improve to 5-1 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 4-1 overall.
  • Lacrosse Rolls to 15-3 Win Over UMass-Dartmouth

    Powered by 11 first-half goals, the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team rolled to a 15-3 victory over the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth on Monday in spring break action at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida. The Lyons move to 4-1 on the season with the victory, while the Corsairs shoulder their first loss of the season and are now 2-1.
  • Lacrosse Sweeps Weekly NEWMAC Awards

    The NEWMAC has announced its weekly awards in lacrosse and Mount Holyoke College student-athletes Molly MacDonald and Kirsten Kilburn have been selected. MacDonald was named the conference’s Offensive Player of the Week, while Kilburn earned Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

  • Lacrosse Tripped Up at Western New England; Fall 15-14 to Golden Bears

    Megan Doyle netted the game-winning goal with 2:30 remaining to lift the Western New England lacrosse team to a 15-14 come-from-behind win over Mount Holyoke in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon at Golden Bear Stadium. With the victory, the Golden Bears improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Lyons suffer their first loss of the season, moving to 2-1 overall.

  • Lacrosse Wins OT Thriller in Season Opener

    Powered by five straight goals in the final 4:21 of regulation, the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team came-from-behind to force overtime and pull out a 20-19 victory over Skidmore College in the season opener for both teams. The Lyons saw seven different players score in the contest; while the Thoroughbreds had six individuals record at least one goal.
