SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has announced its All-Region teams and Mount Holyoke College student-athletes Julia Bell, Molly Macdonald and Liz Malenfant were recognized. All three were named to the Berkshire Region Second Team after helping the Lyons to one of their best seasons in program history.

The IWLCA honored 256 Division III players from around the nation. Thirty-two recipients were selected to represent the Berkshire Region. All three players are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/United States Lacrosse All-American teams, which will be announced on May 25.

A first year attack out of Longmeadow, Mass., Bell leads the team and is second in the NEWMAC in points with 71. She has 49 goals with 22 assists as a starter in 15 games. In addition to scooping up 25 ground balls, she has 51 draw controls and has caused a team-best 17 turnovers this season.

 Named the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year and an All-NEWMAC First Team honoree, Bell has recorded a goal in every game while scoring three or more in seven contests. Additionally, she has notched three points or more in 13 of 15 contests. Among the highlights to her rookie season thus far include a seven goal performance in a 17-14 loss at Wellesley (3/30). Bell, who is a graduate of Wilbraham and Monson, also had a six goal, two assist effort in the Lyons 17-6 victory at Smith (4/16).

Macdonald, a senior attack out of Milton, Mass., currently leads the NEWMAC in goals with 58 and has added nine assists for 67 points. Five of her goals have come on the free position, while one was a game-winner. Macdonald has also added eight ground balls, 10 draw controls and four caused turnovers.

The Milton Academy graduate, who was an All-NEWMAC First Team selection this season, has scored in all 15 games. A two-time conference Offensive Player of the Week honoree, she has tallied at least two goals per contest with nine game of four tallies or more. Macdonald recorded the game-winning goal in a 20-19 overtime win against Skidmore in the season-opener (3/2). She also tallied five goals with two assists in a 19-5 win over New England College (3/9) and notched a career-best seven goals in a 16-10 victory over Bridgewater State (4/10).

A senior goaltender out of Nantucket, Mass., Malenfant has backstopped the Lyons to the fourth-most wins in program history. Owning the conference's best record at 11-3, she has a  9.49 goals against average and a .488 save percentage. In addition to leading the league in winning percentage with a .786 margin, she has made 126 saves, scooped up 25 ground balls and caused five turnovers. Malenfant ranks second in the conference in save percentage, third in GAA and fourth in saves.

Malenfant, who is a former standout at the White Mountain School (N.H.), is the only three-time recipient of the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week award. Among her most outstanding efforts on the year included a 14-save performance in the season-opening win against Skidmore. She also stopped 10 shots in an 11-10 upset over Springfield (3/24) and had 16 saves in a 9-7 win at Babson (4/20).

Mount Holyoke, which is led by the 2013 NEWMAC Coach of the Year, Miriam Esber, is currently 11-4 on the season. The team posted a 4-2 conference record, advancing to the NEWMAC Tournament semifinals.

The Lyons will continue post-season play on Saturday when they compete in the ECAC New England Championships, hosted by Western New England. Mount Holyoke, which is the second-seed, faces the University of Southern Maine in a 1pm showdown. The winner of that game will advance to Sunday's championship, also at 1pm.

Mount Holyoke's 11 victories this spring are the most since the 2010 season. That squad posted an 11-7 record under Esber's direction. The all-time program record for wins in a season is 13, set by the 1993 and 1994 squads which were led by longtime head coach Mike Heyer.
