WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College soccer team had its two-game unbeaten streak come to an end, while host WPI extended its unbeaten streak to four games with a 4-0 defeat of the Lyons Saturday at H. Carr Field.

Four different players recorded goals for the Engineers and Ashleigh Matsis had a pair of assists.

The Engineers evened their overall record at 6-6-3, including a 2-0-2 mark in the past four games, and a 2-3-3 NEWMAC record. Mount Holyoke moves to 2-13-1 overall and 1-7 in NEMWAC play, on the heels of its 1-0 win over Smith on Wednesday night.

Julia Karman got the hosts into the scoring column early when she took a feed from Matsis and buried a shot into the top right corner of the net at 3:29.

Matsis tallied her second assist midway through the first half when she found Lilly Proulx, who also went top right for her third goal at 23:34. The Engineers closed out a first half in which they accounted for all 16 shots with a Josephine Conlon goal at 37:26. The sophomore netted her first career tally when she took the ball from a defender and nailed a shot to the inside of the far post.

Lexi Carim accounted for the only scoring of the second half when she converted a penalty kick in the 54th minute, the sixth penalty kick goal scored against the Lyons this season.

Lili Hellerman and Kelsey Leach combined for WPI's eighth shutout of the season, as the Engineers outshot the Lyons by a 25-3 margin.

First-year goalkeeper Carissa Govea (Pico Rivera, Calif.) continued her fine play this season for Mount Holyoke, registering nine saves on the day. Junior defender Echo Haverkamp (Philadelphia, Pa.) accounted for all three of the shots for the Lyons, all on goal.

Mount Holyoke remains in NEWMAC play on the road on Wednesday, with a 6pm game at Coast Guard.
