The ascent of the Mount Holyoke lacrosse program continued in 2010, as third year head coach Miriam Esber guided her squad to an overall record of 11-7. Led by senior midfielders Peggy Wefald and Perry Markell, the Lyons earned the top seed in the ECAC Tournament and defeated Husson University 20-7 in the Semifinal Round. With the win, they advanced to the Championship, where they suffered a heartbreaking 18-17 setback to Keene State College. Their 11 wins were their most since the 1994 season, when they recorded a program record 13 under the direction of longtime head coach Mike Hyer.

Esber was named NEWMAC Coach of the Year after guiding Mount Holyoke to a 3-3 mark in league play. The Lyons entered their 18^th straight NEWMAC Tournament as the third seed and promptly downed sixth seeded Wheaton College a 15-6 in the Quarterfinal Round. They were then ousted 17-10 by Springfield College in the Semifinals.

Over the course of the season, Mount Holyoke strung together a program record three straight victories on two occasions. The Lyons 338 points, 265 goals and 345 draw controls were all program single season records. They led the nation in draw controls per game with 19.17.

Mount Holyoke picked up non-conference triumphs over Westfield State College (20-12), Norwich University (20-15), Keene State (17-15), Bridgewater State College (14-11), Eastern Connecticut State University (15-13) and Bard College (20-0).  In addition to piling up a school record 27 draw controls in their win over Keene State, the Lyons established a new program record for margin of victory in their win over Bard.

Wefald racked up a career best eight goals to propel Mount Holyoke to a 19-10 triumph over Wellesley College. In the process, she became the first player in program history to surpass 200 career goals. She found the back of the net 230 times and collected a school record 248 draw controls over the course of her career. As a result of her performance against Wellesley, Wefald was named NEWMAC Player of the Week and ECAC New England Offensive Player of the Week.

She was at it again the following week, when she pushed the Lyons to a thrilling 12-11 double overtime triumph over Springfield College. After knotting things up at 11-11 in the waning seconds of the first extra session, she found the back of the net for what proved to be the winner 2:40 into the second overtime. Once again, she was selected as the NEWMAC Player of the Week.

Wefald amassed a program record 76 goals to go with 16 assists and 71 draw controls in 2010. The midfielder was voted to the IWLCA All-Region Second Team and the NEWMAC All-Conference First Team. She was also selected to participate in the IWLCA Division III Senior All-Star Game.

Joining Wefald on the IWLCA All-Region Second Team was junior Bianca Young. The junior was also named to the NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team. In 18 games played, the defensive anchor recorded 21 ground balls, 17 caused turnovers and four draw controls.

Markell enjoyed an outstanding senior season after transferring to Mount Holyoke from Elmira College. One of the Lyons top all around threats, she piled up 61 points on 49 goals and 12 assists en route to earning NEWMAC All-Conference First Team accolades. Markell established a new program single season record with 159 draw controls and was among the national leaders in the category. Her 17 draw controls against Bard were the most in school history for a single game. At the conclusion of the season, she was named to the ECAC Division III New England All-Star Second Team.

In addition to their league wins over Wellesley and Springfield, the Lyons also cruised to a 16-3 victory over longtime rival Smith College.
