Lacrosse Team Claims IWLCA National Academic Squad Accolades

Lacrosse Huddle SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (August 24, 2010) – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) recently announced that the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team earned Academic Squad honors for the 2010 season. A total of 64 NCAA Division III teams qualified for the distinction by posting a collective grade point average of 3.0 or greater.

In addition to naming its Academic Squads, the IWLCA also revealed its Academic Honor Roll. A total of 184 student-athletes from 81 institutions were recognized by the organization for their excellence in the classroom. To be eligible a student-athlete must have at least junior year status and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.50 for the spring semester.

Mount Holyoke was represented on the list by seniors Rachel Kurzweil and Peggy Wefald in addition to junior Bianca Young. Kurzweil was also honored at the conclusion of her junior campaign.
