  • 2013-14 Riding Year In Review

    The Mount Holyoke riding team, under the direction of 30th-year head coach C.J. Law, continued to showcase why it is among the best in the nation during the 2013-14 campaign. The Lyons, who won seven shows during the regular season, once again finished at the top of the Regional standings and secured a spot at the IHSA National Championships.

    The final day of competition for the Mount Holyoke College equestrian team has come to an end and after three days, the Lyons finished seventh overall at the 2014 IHSA National Championships. It was an outstanding effort for MHC, which saw nine riders place at this year's event.
  • Riding Posts Strong Efforts on Day 2 at Nationals

    Strong performances highlighted day two at the IHSA National Championships, hosted at the Pennsylvania Farm Complex. Through two days of action, the Mount Holyoke College equestrian team is eighth of 13 teams. The Lyons were paced by a fifth-place finish from sophomore Jackie Azelby in the team competition.
  • Riding Currently 6th After Day 1 at IHSA Nationals; Harrsch Earns National Title

    Action on day one at the 2014 IHSA National Championships, hosted by the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, has concluded and the Mount Holyoke College equestrian team is currently sixth overall. Highlighting today's action was an outstanding finish from senior Felicia Harrsch, who won the National title in individual competition.
  • Ella Pittman: Remaining Boston Strong

    As Marathon Monday approaches, Mount Holyoke student-athlete Ella Pittman prepares to tackle the Boston Marathon for the second year in a row. Finishing at 2:47pm last year, roughly three minutes before the first explosion, Ella completed the race, her first marathon, in just under four hours. Pittman recounted for us, her experience in the Marathon, and the subsequent tragedy that followed.

  • Riding Finishes 2nd at Zone 1 Championships; Secures Spot at Nationals

    The Mount Holyoke College Equestrian team earned Reserve Champion honors on Saturday, finishing second overall at the Zone 1 Championships held at the MHC Equestrian Center. The Lyons finished just four points behind champion, Dartmouth College. Both schools secured their spots for the upcoming IHSA National Championships in May.
  • Riding Wins 2013-14 Regional Championship

    The Mount Holyoke Equestrian Team secured its spot as Regional Champion on Saturday afternoon, competing at the Regional competition on Saturday at Biscuit Hill Farms. The top two riders in each class earned the right to move on to the Zone Championships to compete as individuals. Overall, the Lyons will send 12 riders to Zones, in addition to a full team competing.
  • Riding Claims Victory in Final Regular Season Show

    The Mount Holyoke College Equestrian Team competed in their final regular season show of the 2013-2014 season on Saturday afternoon at Hadley Farm. The Lyons won High Point College for the day as well winning the region by a margin of 76 points, earning the team a place at Zones on April 5.
  • Riding Captures Victory at Home Show

    The Mount Holyoke College equestrian team, along with six other schools, braved the frigid temperatures on Saturday morning as the Lyons hosted their home show at the Equestrian Center. MHC once again bested the competition to win the show at home by a nine-point margin over UMass.
  • Riding Finishes Reserve High Point Champion at UMass Show

    The Mount Holyoke College equestrian team opened the spring portion of its schedule on Saturday, finishing as the Reserve High Point Champions at the UMass Horse Show. The Lyons’ second-place finish was just four points behind UMass. MHC still holds a sizable lead in the regional standings.
  • Riding Finishes Fifth at Winter Tournament of Champions

    The Mount Holyoke College equestrian team returned to action on Saturday in the final stage of the Tournament of Champions. The winter event, which was held at the University of Mary Washington, saw the Lyons team finish fifth overall. In the overall tournament standings, which featured three meets, MHC was third.
  • Riding Wins 2013 Holiday Tournament of Champions

    Behind two teams of eight riders, as well as a Collegiate Medal rider, the Mount Holyoke College equestrian team claimed victory at the Holiday Tournament of Champions. The show, which was hosted by Centenary College, saw Team Lyons and Team Blue, competed against 23 of the best riding teams in the country for the Champion title.
  • Riding Victorious in Final Fall Show; Remain Undefeated in the Region

    The Mount Holyoke Equestrian Team continued its dominance in the final regular season show of the fall semester, winning its own MHC Horse Show by an eight-point margin against the other seven competing teams. The Lyons remain undefeated with a 62-point lead over second-place University of Massachusetts Amherst. Additionally, MHC won all but three classes in which they had riders entered, for a total of 19 wins out of 22 classes.
  • Riding Posts Perfect Score in Victory at Amherst Horse Show

    Perfection was the name of the game on Saturday as the Mount Holyoke College equestrian team recorded a perfect score of 49 points to capture High Point College honors at the Amherst Horse Show. It was the fourth straight show victory of the season for the Lyons, who now hold a 56-point lead over UMass-Amherst in the region.
  • Solid Rides Lift Equestrian to Victory at UMass Horse Show

    Powered by a number of solid rides, the Mount Holyoke College equestrian team posted a huge victory at the UMass Horse Show at Hadley Farm on Saturday. The victory, which saw the Lyons post 39 points to host UMass’s 34 to earn High Point College honors, was the third straight win for MHC. The Lyons previously won at Smith and at their own home show on October 12.
  • Riding Wins MHC Horse Show; Claims Second Straight Win

    Fresh off its season-opening victory last weekend, the Mount Holyoke College equestrian team took home the blue once again with a win at its own home show on Saturday at the MHC Equestrian Center. The Lyons recorded 47 points on the day and now hold a 29-point lead in the region over Smith College.

    The Mount Holyoke College equestrian team opened defense of its zone and regional titles in fine fashion on Saturday, finishing first of eight teams to earn High Point Champion honors at the Smith Horse Show. There were a number of outstanding finishes on the day.
  • Riding Opens 2013-14 at Preseason Tournament of Champions

    The Mount Holyoke College riding team opened its 2013-14 campaign this weekend, taking part in the Preseason Tournament of Champions, hosted by Randolph College. The event was the first of three invitational tournaments for some of the nation’s top hunt seat squads in the country. The Lyons featured two teams of eight in this year’s preseason event.
