HARRISBURG, Pa. - The final day of competition for the Mount Holyoke College equestrian team has come to an end and after three days, the Lyons finished seventh overall at the 2014 IHSA National Championships. It was an outstanding effort for MHC, which saw nine riders place at this year's event.

Saturday's final day of competition saw two riders in action. Senior captain Lexie Lohrer (Carlisle, Mass.) competed strong, but did not place in the Collegiate Cup Open Equitation Over Fences.

First year Bridget Finnerty (Baltimore, Md.) wrapped-up the Collegiate Cup event for Mount Holyoke, placing sixth among 16 riders in the Open Equitation on the Flat.

Overall it was an outstanding weekend of action for the Lyons, which saw junior Jess Murray (East Longmeadow, Mass.), who finished fifth overall in Collegiate Cup Novice Equitation on the Flat. Sophomore Genevieve Couldwell (Salt Lake City, Utah) placed sixth in Novice Equitation Over Fences, while junior Heather Zadra (Laguna Hills, Calif.) finished fifth in the Intermediate Equitation on the Flat event.

Also in team action, sophomore Jackie Azelby (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) placed fifth among the field of 16 competitors in the Collegiate Cup Walk-Trot-Canter Equitation event and first year Flora Fei (Shanghai, China/Shanghai) earn honorable mention in the Collegiate Cup Walk-Trot Equitation.

Additionally, in the Invididual competition, senior Felicia Harrsch (Lansdale, Pa.) captured the National Championship title in the Individual Open Equitation Over Fences event. Her effort eclipsed 15 other riders.

Also in action individually was junior Maddi Shortt (Eugene, Ore.), who placed third overall in Novice Equitation on the Flat. Senior Nell Maynard (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was eighth in Intermediate Equitation over Fences, while junior Katie Knutson (Park City, Utah) had a great performance in Walk-Trot Equitation. She finished fourth overall.

Centenary College rode away as this year's National Champion.
