Riding Posts Strong Efforts on Day 2 at Nationals

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Strong performances highlighted day two at the IHSA National Championships, hosted at the Pennsylvania Farm Complex. Through two days of action, the Mount Holyoke College equestrian team is eighth of 13 teams. The Lyons were paced by a fifth-place finish from sophomore Jackie Azelby in the team competition.

Azelby (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) placed fifth among the field of 16 competitors in the Collegiate Cup Walk-Trot-Canter Equitation event. Additionally in the team events, MHC saw first year Flora Fei (Shanghai, China/Shanghai) earn honorable mention in the Collegiate Cup Walk-Trot Equitation.

Junior Jess Murray (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was also in action on day two, competing strong, but ultimately not ribboning in Collegiate Cup Intermediate Equitation Over Fences.

In the individual competition, junior Katie Knutson (Park City, Utah) had a great performance in Walk-Trot Equitation. She finished fourth overall.

Centenary College continues to lead the field through two days of action. The team competition concludes on Saturday as riders Lexie Lohrer and Bridget Finnerty look to move the Lyons up in the standings.
