Golf Opens 2010-11 Season at Dartmouth Invitational

Sarah Keating HANOVER, N.H. (Sept. 19, 2010) – The Mount Holyoke College women's golf team kicked off its 2010-11 season with a 20th place finish this weekend at the Dartmouth College Invitational. A total of 22 squads competed in the tournament, which was hosted by Hanover Country Club (par 72 – 5,807 yards).

Mount Holyoke's top finisher was junior Alexandra Irish, who grabbed 34th place overall (165 – 84, 81). Senior Sarah Keating took home 91st place (178 – 92, 86), while sophomore Kate Merrill chipped in with a 100th place showing (183 – 91, 92).

Boston College earned the team title, recording a two day score of 611 (306, 305). The Eagles were followed by Towson University (620) and the host Big Green (633).

Stephanie Hu of Boston College earned medalist honors after defeating Wellesley College's Kimberly Eaton in a playoff. The duo recorded matching scores of 148 (74, 74) during regulation play.

Mount Holyoke will host its home invitational next weekend at the Orchards Golf Club. The tournament is slated to begin on Saturday and conclude on Sunday.
