WORCESTER, Mass. -- Mount Holyoke College took sixth place Saturday in the NEWMAC Women's Rowing Championships, while two Lyons won All-Conference honors, in the program's first opportunity to race for the conference championship since 2019.

Mount Holyoke embraced the chance to return to the NEWMAC Championships for the first time since 2019 -- the team was unable to compete in the 2022 regatta, and there were no championships held in 2021 and 2020.

In the conference championship standings, which accounts for points in the varsity eight and second varsity eight boats, Wellesley earned 45 points to take first place, followed by WPI (40), Smith (35), Coast Guard (28), Clark (27), Mount Holyoke (20), and Simmons (15).

Buoyed by three first-place finishes, Wellesley College claimed the conference title for the 10th time in 11 years.

Two Mount Holyoke rowers -- senior Jocelyn Greer (Athens, N.Y.) and junior captain Emma Waldron (Pittsburgh, Pa.) -- received Second Team All-Conference honors for their performances on the water.

The Lyons' first varsity eight covered the 2,000-meter course in a solid time of 7:08.44, sixth-fastest out of seven boats but far closer to first-place Wellesley (6:42.7) than eighth-place Simmons (8:07.98). Coast Guard (6:56.27) edged Clark (6:56.27) for fourth place.

Mount Holyoke also placed sixth in the W2V8 race, finishing in 7:30.47, just 1.88 seconds behind fifth-place Coast Guard. The Lyons' W3V8 also placed sixth as well in its race, which did not factor into determining the conference title, with a time of 8:28.87.
