WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced its weekly awards for the period ending March 24th and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Julia Hecking was recognized. A senior and captain of the Lyons track & field team, she garnered Field Athlete of the Week honors after an outstanding week to open the outdoor season.

Hecking, who hails from Greenville, Pa., had a solid indoor season as well, earning seventh or better across five meets. Highlighting the efforts was the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT, where she threw a personal best 13.70 meters in the weight throw to earn fifth overall. She also competed at the New England Division III Indoor Championships, taking 17th overall in the weight throw.

The former Greenville High School standout is coming off a 2018 outdoor season which saw her earn 11th or better in all five meets she competed, including two victories.
