SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - During the halftime of Saturday's basketball contest against Emerson College, members of the Mount Holyoke College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) recognized the 33rd annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day.

The event, which was officially on February 6, marks a national observance celebrating the extraordinary achievements of women and girls in sports. Natalie Burkett '20, who is a member of the Lyons swimming & diving team, as well as serving as the MHC SAAC Secretary, gave a brief speech to the crowd alongside other SAAC members.

Following the recognition of the NGWSD, the SAAC invited fans to join in a pizza lunch, held in the foyer of the MHC Field House.

For more than three decades, this celebration has empowered women and girls to get moving, reap the benefits of physical activity and push past their limits both in sports and in life. The confidence, strength and character gained through sports and physical activity are the very tools girls need to become strong leaders, in their own lives and in the world.
