CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Junior Bridget Hall placed eighth in the 10,000-meter run to highlight the first day of the NEWMAC Track & Field Championships for Mount Holyoke College on Saturday at MIT.
Running in her first collegiate 10K, Hall (Arlington, Mass.) scored a point for Mount Holyoke by finishing eighth out of 16 runners in a time of 40:42.10. Hall's time is just 12 seconds outside of Mount Holyoke's all-time top-10 list in the event.
Other top-20 event performances for Mount Holyoke Saturday included:
- Sophomore Olivia Johnson (Mount Desert, Maine) placed 12th in the 10,000 meters in 42:05.11.
- Senior captain Emma Doyle (West Lebanon, N.H.) placed 16th out of 28 athletes in the hammer throw, with a top mark of 32.49 meters (106'7").
- Sophomore Aria Mallare (Chicago, Ill.) placed 16th among 26 competitors in the long jump, with a top effort of 4.75 meters (15'7"). Mallare also placd 20th in the 100-meter dash (13.40 seconds).
- Sophomore Lize Brown (New London, Conn.) placed 17th out of 26 competitors in the javelin throw, with a top mark of 24.62 meters (80'9").
- Sophomore Erin Siegel (San Diego, Calif.) placed 19th in both the javelin throw at 23.61 meters (77'5") and the hammer at 28.67 meters (94'1").
- First-year Kristina Busby (Freeville, N.Y.) placed 17th in the 100-meter hurdles (19.33 seconds).
