Rieders Qualify for NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at Tufts National Qualifying Meet

Medford, Mass. - March 7, 2020 - The duo of Hannah Rieders (Wellesley, Mass.) and Madeline Rieders (Wellesley, Mass.) both raced in the women's 5k at the Tufts National Qualifying Meet on Saturday in the Gantcher Center placed first overall.

The twins both turned in a time of 17:11.60 in the event and solidified themselves within the Top 10 of Division III, earning a spot at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships, which will be hosted at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. on March 13 and March 14.

The Rieders also broke the previous Mount Holyoke College indoor track and field program record, which was set earlier this season by Hannah with a time of 17:18. Their time of 17:11.60 also proves to be the fastest in program history.

There was a pacer who ran the first 3,000 meters in 10:20 and the Rieders stuck with her the entire time, posting a 10:22 3,000 meter split, their career best. From there, the duo ran five-consecutive laps of 41.1 seconds to clock in at 17:11.60. They ran 5:29 in their first mile, 5:32 in their second mile and 5:30 in their third mile.

More information regarding seedings, live results and video streaming of the NCAA Championships will be available in the coming day.
