Dutchess County, N.Y. - November 21, 2021 - The Mount Holyoke College squash team defeated Bard College, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon, as the Lyons finished their opening weekend of play with a 1-1 record.

Senior Mihiliya Kalahe (Panadura, Sri Lanka) picked up her second victory of the weekend after a 11-2, 11-0, 11-2 win over Pam Jeramillo, while at No. 2, Xaria Durocher (Boston, Mass.) earned her first-collegiate victory with a 11-2, 11-2, 11-0 win over Jackie Lerman. At No. 3, Giselle Cabrera (Bronx, N.Y.) posted a 3-0 win over Thenari DeSilver as the senior won three games 11-4, 11-2, 11-3, while at No. 4, Melissa Marquez (Waterbury, Conn.) won over Ophelia Wang, 11-5, 11-7, 11-8.

Wrapping up at No. 5 was Elba Barra Montgomery (Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania), who also won her match, defeating Cameron Orr in three games, while Paige Gershuny (Cape Girardeau, Mo.) and Dnyaneshwari Haware (Mumbai, India) picked up their first collegiate victories, winning in three games at the No. 6 and No. 7 slot respectively.

Mount Holyoke College will next take on Bowdoin at Williams College on January 8 at 10 a.m.
