Lacrosse Powers Past Western Connecticut State to Open Spring Trip

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team kicked-off their spring training trip in style, posting a 13-10 victory over Western Connecticut State University in non-conference action in Florida. The Lyons move to 2-2 on the young season, while the Colonials are now 2-1 overall.

Mount Holyoke was paced by rookie attack Caroline Flynn, who recorded four goals with two ground balls. Junior captain Julianna Rankin added three goals, an assist, three ground balls and three draw controls, while rookie attack Abby Baldwin registered two goals, three assists, six ground balls and four draw controls.

For the Colonials, senior midfielder Lauren Bradshaw had three goals, an assist, seven ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers. Sophomore middie Caroline Galligan added three goals with an assist, including two ground balls and a caused turnover, while junior midfielder Brooke Baldelli added a goal, three assists, three draw controls and a caused turnover.

In goal, Lyons' junior Mia Wysocki earned the win with 15 saves, while sophomore Jennifer Sawicki had 11 stops in the loss.

The Lyons return to action on Thursday at 9am when they face Morrisville State in Florida.
