With ninth year head coach Shawn Durocher leading the way, the Mount Holyoke golf team took part in 10 events during the 2009-10 season. Leading the way was sophomore Alexandra Irish.
Mount Holyoke College first year golfer Felicitas Gerlach was recently selected to the 2009-10 National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team. A total of 494 women's collegiate golfers from NCAA Divisions I, II and III were recognized by the NGCA this year.
The Mount Holyoke College Department of Athletics hosted its annual awards celebration this evening in Chapin Auditorium. Individuals from all 14 varsity teams were honored. Squash Head Coach Allen Fitzsimmons served as the events emcee. Soccer team member Lauren Orr earned the prestigious Alumnae Association Scholar-Athlete Award.
Prior to the annual athletics awards celebration this evening, 17 Mount Holyoke seniors representing 11 teams were honored as part of the College's second annual Scholar Athlete Reception. The recognition event highlighted those student-athletes who have excelled both on the field and in the classroom.
Senior Tiffany Shute capped off her collegiate career with a bang. Using a three hybrid, she knocked in a hole-in-one on the 14th hole on Saturday. Par for the 149-yard hole was set at three.
Led by sophomore Alexandra Irish, the Mount Holyoke College womens golf team grabbed eighth place at the annual Jack Leaman Championship this weekend. Irish registered an eighth place finish with her two day total of 164. The Lyons also received solid production from Sarah Keating.
Mount Holyoketook third place at the Massachusetts State Invitational today. Leading the way for the Lyons was Sarah Keating, who grabbed fifth place with a score of 86. Alexandra Irish carded an 88 to earn eighth place. Meanwhile, Tiffany Shute posted a 17th place finish with her tally of 98. The annual event took place at the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley.

Award winning documentary filmmaker and well known motivational speaker Jenny Mackenzie will be visiting Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday, February 2 at 6:30 p.m. to present her new film entitled "Kick Like A Girl." Her appearance will highlight the Colleges National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration.

The Mount Holyoke golf team recently announced the fall portion of its 2009-10 schedule. The Lyons will kick off their slate at the Dartmouth College Invitational on Saturday, September 19.
