Golf Wraps Up Season at Williams Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (April 25, 2010) – The Mount Holyoke College women’s golf team wrapped up its 2009-10 slate at the Williams College Spring Invitational this weekend. A total of 11 squads competed in the two day tournament, which took place at the Taconic Golf Club (par 71 - 5,827 yards).

Amherst College recorded a score of 626 to claim the team title. The Lord Jeffs finished just two strokes in front of the host Ephs. Meanwhile, Wellesley College grabbed third place with a tally of 643. Mount Holyoke’s team score of 681 was good for eighth place overall.

The top five individual finishers were separated by just two strokes. Amherst’s Hayley Milbourn and Wellesley’s Kimberly Eaton carded matching scores of 151 to lead the way. The duo went to a playoff, where Milbourn eventually prevailed. Alex Bello of Vassar College shot a 152 to secure third place.

Mount Holyoke senior Tiffany Shute capped off her collegiate career with a bang. Using a three hybrid, she knocked in a hole-in-one on the 14th hole yesterday. Par for the 149-yard hole was set at three.

The Lyons were once again paced by sophomore Alexandra Irish, who collected 16th place with a score of 163 (81, 82). Junior Sarah Keating’s two day tally of 167 (80, 87) was good for 26th place overall.
