Riding Earns Reserve Championship at Amherst Show

SHELBURNE FALLS, Mass. (Nov. 12, 2011) – The Mount Holyoke College riding team finished as Reserve Champions at the Amherst College Horse Show today. A total of six teams from around the region participated in the event, which took place at Biscuit Hill Farm. The University of Massachusetts grabbed top honors with a score of 43 points.

Mount Holyoke finished in front of Smith College (34), Springfield College (19), Landmark College (10) and Amherst College (8) with its 39 points.

Junior Morgan Cooley (novice flat), senior Rebecca Hicks (novice fences), sophomore Julia Kusnick (novice flat), sophomore Alexa Lohrer (open fences), sophomore Eleanor Maynard (open flat), first year Abby Raucher (novice fences), junior Jessica Stephens (walk-trot) and senior Margaret Swanson (open flat) each earned blue ribbons for the Lyons.

Mount Holyoke will put the finishing touches on its fall slate at home next Saturday. The Lyons own a 26 point lead in the Zone 1, Region 3 standings.
