Lyons Game Day Central: Lacrosse vs. Springfield on Wednesday

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke returns to its home field on Wednesday, welcoming the Pride of Springfield College. It marks the 30th all-time meeting between the two programs, dating back to the first match-up in 1983 - a 4-3 MHC win. Springfield has seen the most success in the rivalry, owning a 24-5 mark, including wins in each of the last four meetings.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (3-9; 1-3 NEWMAC) is back in action following a tough loss at Wellesley on Saturday. Senior captain Leila Kouakou paced last week's offense with four goals and three assists, which also included a team victory over Emerson. Overall, the Lyons are led by Kouakou who boasts a team-high 29 points on 20 goals and nine assists. Junior attack Deyscha Smith is close behind with 25 points, including a team-best 21 goals, while in net, sophomore Mia Wysocki (3-7) has recorded 85 saves.

THE PRIDE: Springfield  (9-5; 4-1 NEWMAC) returns to the field following a victory at Wheaton on Saturday. A solid 5-1 first half, aided by a pair of tallies from Ann Mahoney, helped lead the offense, while sophomore keeper Brenna Keefe recorded five saves in goal. Through 14 games, senior attack Shelby Corsano leads the Pride in scoring with 42 goals and 16 assists for 58 points. In goal, Keefe (9-5) has made 112 saves.

UP NEXT: Mount Holyoke closes out its regular season home schedule on Saturday, hosting Coast Guard at 12pm on Senior Day. Springfield also wraps up its home regular season slate on Saturday, welcoming Wellesley at 1pm.
