Lyons Game Day Central: Lacrosse vs. Coast Guard on Wednesday

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke returns home on Wednesday to face the Bears of the United States Coast Guard Academy. It marks the second all-time meeting between the two programs, dating back to the first contest last season - a 12-2 Lyons victory - when the Bears joined the NEWMAC for women's lacrosse.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (1-8, 0-4 NEWMAC) suffered a 12-2 loss at Springfield last Saturday. Senior captain and attack Julia Bell, along with junior attack Charlotte Wagner, had the tallies for the Lyons. In goal, junior Isa Rodriguez posted 10 saves.

THE BEARS: Coast Guard (2-9, 0-4 NEWMAC) shouldered a 13-4 loss to Emerson last Saturday. Sophomore Jackie Kokomoor, first year Anne McGoldrick and senior Isabelle Patnode scored second half goals for the Bears, while sophomore Angel Fay had 13 saves in goal for Coast Guard.

NEWMAC LEADERS: Senior captain and attacker Catherine Ryan continues to lead the conference in assists with 23 on the season through nine games. Bell is ninth in the NEWMAC in goals with 29. She also ranks ninth in points (35) and sixth in caused turnovers (18). Coast Guard goalie Angel Fay leads the NEWMAC in caused turnovers (25) and along with defender Kira Dabrowski the duo is fourth (34) and fifth (33), respectively in ground balls.

NEXT UP: Both teams return to conference play this weekend with Mount Holyoke heading to MIT and Coast Guard traveling to Wellesley. Start time for both games is at 1pm.
