Wefald Earns "Lyon of the Week" Award

Senior lacrosse team member Peggy Wefald has been named “Lyon of the Week” for the week of March 29-April 4. The midfielder exploded for 11 goals and four assists in a 1-1 week for Mount Holyoke. She amassed 10 draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Wefald exploded for six goals and added a career best three assists in the Lyons thrilling 15-13 triumph over Eastern Connecticut State University on Thursday. Her nine points matched a career high. The midfielder then found the back of the next five times in Mount Holyoke's 15-11 loss at nationally ranked Babson College on Saturday.

She has recorded five goals or more in each of her last four outings and needs just seven more tallies to become the first player in program history to reach 200 for her career. With her six goals against Wheaton College on March 27, Wefald surpassed Caitlin Taylor ’06 as Mount Holyoke's all-time leader in career goals scored. She is also the program's all-time leader in career draw controls with 223.

As a team, Mount Holyoke leads the nation in draw controls with 19.33 per game.
