2009 Field Hockey Season in ReviewAugust 01, 2010Following the lead of longtime head coach Andy Whitcomb, the Mount Holyoke field hockey team advanced to the Semifinal Round of the NEWMAC Tournament for the first time since the 2005 season. After upsetting third seeded Clark University 2-0 in the Quarterfinal Round, the Lyons were topped 2-0 by second seeded MIT in the Semifinals. They have qualified for the postseason in each of Whitcomb’s 11 seasons.

Awards Handed Out at Annual Athletic BanquetMay 06, 2010The Mount Holyoke College Department of Athletics hosted its annual awards celebration this evening in Chapin Auditorium. Individuals from all 14 varsity teams were honored. Squash Head Coach Allen Fitzsimmons served as the events emcee. Soccer team member Lauren Orr earned the prestigious Alumnae Association Scholar-Athlete Award.

Seniors Honored at Scholar Athlete ReceptionMay 06, 2010Prior to the annual athletics awards celebration this evening, 17 Mount Holyoke seniors representing 11 teams were honored as part of the College's second annual Scholar Athlete Reception. The recognition event highlighted those student-athletes who have excelled both on the field and in the classroom.

Field Hockey Earns National Academic HonorsMarch 26, 2010The Mount Holyoke College womens field hockey team was recently recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association for achieving a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. In addition, nine individual members of the team were named to the 2009 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad.

FHOCers Honored For LeadershipFebruary 08, 2010Mount Holyoke College honored the 18 women who made up the Field Hockey Organizing Committee (FHOC) at its annual Celebration of Student Achievement this afternoon. During the campus wide event, students and recent graduates were recognized for their leadership as demonstrated through academic excellence, community service and outstanding accomplishment.
