SETTING THE SCENE: Mount Holyoke College hosts its home opener on Saturday with a double-header against Elms College and Simmons College. The Lyons own an 18-1 advantage over the Blazers dating back to a 3-0 victory in 2003. In the 19 matches played, MHC has only given up seven sets to the Blazers. Against the Sharks, the Lyons hold an 8-2 all-time advantage dating back to 1996.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (3-0) is off to a hot start with a 3-0 record after most recently sweeping MCLA, 3-0 on Tuesday, behind eight kills and nine digs from junior captain Sarah Caggiano. Sophomore middle hitter Sasha Simine leads the team overall with 30 kills and 15 total blocks, while Caggiano is second in kills with 21. Junior outside hitter Joy Maran owns a team-best 26 digs.

A LOOK AT THE FIELD: Elms College (3-1) enters the match looking to bounce back after falling to Bridgewater state, 3-2 on Wednesday. Junior outside hitter Danielle Redding and first year attacker Ayanna Meadows each had double-digit kills in the contest with 19 and 11, respectively.  For the season, Redding leads the squad with 51 kills. Simmons College (3-2) enters Saturday on a two game win-streak after picking up a 3-0 win against UMass-Dartmouth. Sophomore outside hitter Morgan Weeg led the offense with 13 kills, while first year libero Julia Fusco powered the defense with 11 digs. For the season, Weeg has a squad-high 83 kills and Fusco is tops with 52 digs.

UP NEXT: Both Mount Holyoke and Simmons are back in action at 7pm on Tuesday as the Lyons open up conference play at Wheaton, while the Sharks travel to Gordon. Elms will play Wednesday at Framingham State at 7pm.
