Lyons Game Day Central: Volleyball Hosts MCLA on Tuesday

SETTING THE SCENE: Mount Holyoke welcomes the Trailblazers of MCLA on Tuesday in the 19th all-time meeting between the two teams. The Lyons hold the series advantage by a 16-2 margin, dating back to the first meeting in 1982 - a 3-0 MHC victory.  Mount Holyoke won the first 12 consecutive matchups before the Trailblazers grabbed their first win in 2009. The Lyons have seen the most recent succes, going 4-1 over the last five matches. In the series history, the Lyons have only given up 10 sets against the Trailblazers.

THE LYONS:
Mount Holyoke (1-1) comes off of a split in tri-match action picking up a game against University of St. Joseph. Sophmore middle hitter Joy Maran spearheaded the Lyons attack with 12 kills against SJU. MHC found success on defense in first year middle hitter Sasha Simine who leads the team with 10 blocks on the year. Simine garnered five blocks in each of the matches on Saturday.

THE TRAILBLAZERS:
MCLA (0-3) comes off a pair of losses at the Morrisville Tournament dropping matches to Morrisville State (3-2) and Kean University (3-0). Senior outside hitter Allison Clark and  junior middle hitter Maggie Allen lead the team with 18 kills a piece. Junior defensive specialist Chanielle Enomoto boasts a team-high 37 digs.

UP NEXT: Following today's match, MHC will hit the road for the first time this season as they face Rhode Island College (0-3) and Salve Regina (2-2) in tri-match action at Salve Regina on Saturday at 12pm and 2pm. MCLA also returns to the court on Saturday when it travels to Norwich to face the host Cadets (12pm) and Lyndon State (2pm).
