Larson-Koester Earns "Lyon of the Week"
Track and field team member Miriam Larson-Koester has been named “Lyon of the Week” for the week of April 19-25. The sophomore established personal records in all three of her events at the 2010 NEWMAC Championships on Saturday.
Larson-Koester was at her best in the discus, where she earned NEWMAC First Team All-Conference honors with her first place finish. Her toss of 39.59 meters was a school record and made her eligible for the New England Championships. She had previously qualified for both the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships in the event.
The Mount Holyoke captain also grabbed fourth place in the shot put with her throw of 11.97 meters. She recorded a sixth place showing in the hammer throw with her toss of 39.90 meters.
Larson-Koester totaled 18 points on the day.
