Trio of Indoor Track and Field Team Members Take Part in NCAA Regional Championships

GORHAM, Maine (Feb. 20, 2010) – Sophomore Miriam Larson-Koester, junior Jacinta Edebeli and first year Maddie Ballon represented Mount Holyoke College at the NCAA Division III Women’s Indoor Track and Field New England Regional Championships today. The meet was hosted by the University of Southern Maine.

Williams College took home the team title with a score of 156. The Ephs were followed by MIT (90) and Tufts University (73). Springfield College (66) and Bowdoin College (57) rounded out the top five.

Larson-Koester and Edebeli competed in two events apiece.

After posting a 12th place finish in the shot put with her toss of 10.98 meters, Larson-Koester took 20th place in the weight throw with a distance of 11.39 meters.

Edebeli grabbed 10th place in the 55-meter with a time of7.64. She also took part in the 200-meter dash, recording a 21st place time of 28.05.

Ballon matched her school record in the pole vault with a height of 2.75 meters. She finished the day in 20th place.

Mount Holyoke will return to action next weekend at the New England Championships. The event is slated to begin on Friday and conclude on Saturday and will be hosted by Boston University.
