Indoor Track & Field Participates in Wesleyan Invitational

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (Jan. 23, 2010) – The Mount Holyoke College women’s indoor track and field team took part in the non-scoring Wesleyan University Invitational today at the Bacon Field House.

Leading the way for the Lyons was sophomore Miriam Larson-Koester, who grabbed sixth place in the shot put. With her throw of 10.9 meters, she qualified for the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships in the event. Larson-Koester also produced solid results in the weight throw, where she took home 10th place with a toss of 11.33 meters.

Senior Jessica Brezicha collected a 13th place finish in the 55-meter dash with a time of 9.98, while sophomore Holly Valenzuela nabbed 13th place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:37.68.

Jacinta Edebeli posted a time of 28.49 to secure 12th place in the 200-meter dash. The junior then recorded a distance of 4.17 meters to secure 13th place in the long jump.

Mount Holyoke will return to action next Saturday, when it competes in the University of Southern Maine Invitational at 1:00 p.m.
