Lyons Game Day Central: Tennis vs. Wheaton College at 4:30pm

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke welcomes the Lyons of Wheaton College on Tuesday for the 50th time in program history. The series began in 1981 with two MHC victories. Wheaton currently holds a 31-17-1 series advantage all-time, but Mount Holyoke has won the last five consecutive matches.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (4-7; 1-0 NEWMAC) enters the match after a conference opening win for the third consecutive year. In an 8-1 win over Emerson, the Lyons had a strong performance winning all six singles mataches, including a 6-0, 6-0 victory from junior Joy Maran from six. Sophomore Catherine Peabody has played well and comes into the match on a three-game win streak in singles. Overall, Peabody currently holds the best record of 6-4, while the duo of first year Anya Gerasimova and Peabody have a team-best 7-3 record in doubles.

THE LYONS: Wheaton (4-3; 0-0 NEWMAC) visits South Hadley after winning four of the last five games, including its most recent 9-0 win over Simmons College last Saturday. The duo of junior Ines de Bracamonte and sophomore Isabelle Garvanne had a strong match, earning an 8-0 doubles victory. Bracamonte enters the match on a five-match win streak in singles action.

NEXT UP: Both teams will be back in conference action on Saturday with MHC squaring off at Babson College at 11:00am, while Wheaton hosts Springfield at 10:30am.
