Lyons Gameday Central: Tennis vs. Holy Cross on Thursday at 6pm

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke takes to its home court for the first time in 2017-18, welcoming the Crusaders from the College of the Holy Cross. Thursday's match marks the fifth all-time meeting between the two programs, dating back to the first meeting in 1981-82 - a 5-4 Crusaders win. The last time the Lyons and Holy Cross met was 32 years ago during the 1984-85 season, which saw the Crusaders post an 8-1 victory.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (1-0; 0-0 NEWMAC) opens its home slate following a split weekend which saw the team compete at both the Tennis Hall of Fame Tournament, as well as the ITA New England Regionals. At the Hall of Fame Tourney, the Lyons saw opening quarterfinals doubles wins from both pairs, including Clara Wang and Katherine Schumacher, who defeated Meg Kewis and Carolyn Cam from Holy Cross, 9-7. The ITA's saw both Ching-Ching Huang and Catherine Peabody suffer tough losses against high-seeded opponents in the opening singles round.

THE CRUSADERS: Holy Cross (2-4; 0-0 Patriot) returns to the courts following a 7-0 victory over Clark on Tuesday. Against the Cougars, Holy Cross got a strong effort across the board, including a 7-5, 6-3 win from junior Allison Reiling in the first flight. On the season, Reiling owns a 2-2 mark in first singles action, while junior Jennifer Kary is 2-1 from the fifth flight. In doubles action, the duo of senior Katie Elia and first year Katya Martin are 2-2 from the second flight.
   
NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke is now idle until October 13 when it hosts the 2017 NEWITT Tournament. Action begins on Friday at 12pm and continues Saturday (10/14) and Sunday (10/15). Start times for the weekend action will be 9am. Holy Cross returns to the courts on Sunday when it competes at the Connecticut College Tournament beginning at 10am.
