Lyons Game Day Central: Tennis vs. Clark on Saturday

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke welcomes the Cougars of Clark University in a matchup dating back to 1986 that saw a 6-3 Lyons victory. MHC holds a 28-1 advantage over Clark, winning the last 19 contests. The last Cougar's win came in 1996 where they edged Mount Holyoke by a 5-4 margin.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (5-2; 3-2 NEWMAC) comes into Saturday after having four players in action at the ITA New England Regionals hosted by MIT in Cambridge, Mass. Ayame Yazawa picked up a first round win but later fell in the round of 16. Ching-Ching Huang along with doubles duo Alexa Colas and Catherine Peabody shouldered first round losses as well. Through seven matches, captain Amy Chen, and Yazawa lead the team with 6-1 marks.

COUGARS: Clark (5-5; 1-4 NEWMAC) is coming off of a 9-0 home loss to nationally ranked (17) MIT on Tuesday. Junior Isabelle long picked up two sets but eventually fell 6-2, 6-0. In doubles, Long and sophomore Emily Shuman earned two sets but went on to lose 8-2. Shuman and Long lead the way for the Cougars with five wins each while senior Amy Fallon and sophomore Adrien Horowitz are close behind with four wins. In doubles action, the Horowitz-Shuman duo lead Clark with four wins.

NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke will play its final home dual match of the fall on Tuesday where they will face Springfield College at 5:00pm. Clark will also be back in action on Tuesday playing Smith College at 4:00pm.
