Lyons Game Day Central: Tennis vs. Gordon on Thursday

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke is back on the court on Thursday, hosting the Fighting Scots of Gordon College. Today's match marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs in tennis.   

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (12-9, 5-3 NEWMAC) is coming off a 2-2 performance at the 2016 Seven Sisters Championship last week. The Lyons earned victories over Bryn Mawr (4-1) and Smith (3-2), while falling to Wellesley (5-0) and eventual champion, Vassar (4-1). Senior captain Margaux Holloschutz and first year Ayame Yazawa were named to the Seven Sisters All-Tournament Team for their efforts on the weekend.

THE FIGHTING SCOTS: Gordon (15-5; 7-1 CCC) returns to the courts for its final match of 2016 this afternoon. The Fighting Scots were most recently in action on March 11 when they posted a 9-0 win over Kutztown before falling 5-4 to Nebraska Wesleyan during action in Hilton Head, S.C. Gordon is paced by solid singles efforts from junior captain Abby Caron (15-5) and sophomore Katherine Jeffreys (14-3). Caron, along with senior captain Tawnie Yeaw are also 11-1 in first doubles action.
 
NEXT UP: The Lyons are right back in action on Sunday when they travel to Connecticut College for a 10:30am match against the Camels. Colby-Sawyer returns to the courts on April 10 in a 1pm home match against Wheaton.
