Lyons Game Day Central: Tennis vs. Colby-Sawyer on Saturday

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke is back on the court on Saturday, welcoming the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College to South Hadley. It marks the seventh all-time meeting in the series, dating back to the first contest in 1990-91 - an 8-1 MHC win. The Lyons hold the series advantage by a 6-0 margin, including wins in each of the last two seasons.  

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (9-6, 5-3 NEWMAC) powered its way to an 8-1 win over the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on Tuesday evening. The Lyons were paced by a strong doubles effort, which saw MHC open out to a 3-0 lead. Highlighting the action was strong 6-3, 6-4 win at the second flight by senior captain Margaux Holloschutz, who also won at first doubles with first year Ayame Yazawa.

THE CHARGERS: Colby-Sawyer (14-4; 7-0 NEAC), which played at Smith College on Friday evening, shouldered a tough 9-0 loss to Division II Bentley on March 23. Among the highlights included a battle in the fourth set as sophomore Evelyn Miller fell in the first set 6-2, but evened the match with a 7-5 second set win. The two players then played a lengthy third set with Bentley's Hannah Fabianski coming away with the 10-8 win.
 
NEXT UP: The Lyons are right back in action on Sunday when they travel to Connecticut College for a 10:30am match against the Camels. Colby-Sawyer returns to the courts on April 10 in a 1pm home match against Wheaton.
