THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke welcomes Colby College and Wesleyan University as part of the 2017 Pioneer Valley Invitational, hosted by MHC, Amherst, and Smith.

HISTORY: It marks the 33rd meeting in program history between MHC and Colby. The series dates back to 1990, which saw an 8-1 victory for Colby. The Mules currently hold a 20-12 advantage. The Lyons last victory came in 2014 with a 7-2 win to culminate a 10-match win streak. Against Wesleyan, this is the 45th all-time meeting, dating back to 1990, a 5-4 Mount Holyoke win. The Lyons hold a 25-19 series advantage, but Wesleyan has won the last four matchups.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (2-11 overall) enters the match after a pair of losses to St. Lawrence University (9-0) and Connecticut College (5-4). In the match against the Camels, junior Brandy Williamson and sophomore Ragini Ghose each picked up 3-2 wins, while senior captain Allison Shilling and sophomore Lessly Portillo both won 3-0 from the third and fourth flight.

THE MULES: Colby (3-9 overall) comes into PVI action after going 1-2 last weekend. The Mules fell at Wesleyan (5-4) on Saturday, shouldering a tight loss to St. Lawrence (5-4) on Sunday. Colby bounced back on the afternoon tilt, besting Connecticut College (7-2).

THE CARDINALS: Wesleyan (6-5 overall) enters this weekend's action following a 2-1 effort last weekend at home. The Cardinals fell in to Tufts (7-2) on Friday, but battled back with victories over Haverford (9-0) on Friday evening and Colby (5-4) on Saturday.  

NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke is back in action next Saturday, traveling to Haverford (1:30pm) and Dickinson (6:30). For Colby, is right back in action on Saturday (4pm) when it battles Wesleyan at 4pm, followed by contest at Amherst on Sunday against Franklin & Marshall (12pm) and Amherst (3pm). Following the match against the Mules, Wesleyan will play one more game in the PVI on Sunday against Hamilton at Smith College (12pm).
