Lyons Game Day Central: Soccer vs. Wellesley on Wednesday

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke welcomes Wellesley on Saturday in the 40th matchup between the two programs, dating back to 1979. MHC began the series winning the first 14 matches. The Blue went on to win the next 20 out of 23 games. The Lyons have answered the Blue's streak over the last couple of years, winning the last two matchups.

THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (6-5-0; 1-3-0 NEWMAC) returns to the pitch after picking up its first conference win, 1-0 on Wednesday. The match saw the NEWMAC assist leader Sara Sanaú Ruiz record her first goal of the year after a breakaway feed from junior midfielder Suz Rose. It also marked the first assist of the season for Rose. In net, senior captain and keeper Zoe Marshall remains the conference leader in saves with 84, and moved into the number one spot for save percentage with a .903 clip.

THE BLUE: Wellesley (5-5-0; 2-1-0 NEWMAC) enters Saturday following a 2-0 win against Babson, who is ranked one spot above them at third in the conference. The two goals were scored by senior captain and forward Maddie Carlborg and junior forward Melise Knowles who both lead the team with two goals each. First year forward Carley Phillips leads the Blue with a pair of helpers on the season. First year goalkeeper Olivia Reckley is the leader in net with 14 saves.

NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke will be on the road for the next two games, beginning with Coast Guard Academy on Tuesday, at 7:00pm. Wellesley will also be in action on Tuesday, heading to Cambridge to face MIT at 4:00pm
