Cooke Collects "Lyon of the Week" Accolades
Sophomore soccer player Mary Cooke has been named “Lyon of the Week” for the week of October 12-18. The midfielder racked up five points on four goals and one assist in a 1-1 week for Mount Holyoke. Cooke propelled the Lyons to a stunning 2-0 triumph over Springfield College on Tuesday. After setting up senior forward Lauren Orr's match winner, she added an insurance goal of her own in the second half. It was Mount Holyoke's first victory over Springfield since 2003. The Pride entered the contest with an undefeated record in NEWMAC play. Cooke then found the back of the net once in the Lyons 3-2 setback at Babson College on Saturday. For the season, she has amassed a team best seven points. Her three goals lead the squad, and she has also contributed one assist.
