???WORCESTER, Mass. (Oct. 10, 2009) – Senior defender Liz Tuite tallied the lone goal in WPI’s 1-0 victory over New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Mount Holyoke College this afternoon at Alumni Field.

The Engineers (5-8-0, 0-3-0 NEWMAC) took advantage of a corner kick opportunity in the 30th minute to score what proved to be the only goal of the day. Sophomore defender Hailey Taylor got the play started with a pass into the box that was deflected by Lyons first year goalkeeper Ingibjörg Magnúsdóttir to Tuite, who fired it into the back of the net for her first goal of the 2009 campaign.

Mount Holyoke fell despite advantages in both shots (13-9) and corner kick chances (8-2). First year goalkeeper Rebecca Newman made five saves en route to her second shutout of the year. Magnúsdóttir made two stops for the guests.

Mount Holyoke (1-10-0, 0-4-0 NEWMAC) will return to action on Tuesday, when it hosts Springfield College for a league tilt beginning at 4:30 p.m.
